March and April 2001
The site is muddy after a wet winter but work starts.

Week Zero - 26th March - Contractor due to start next week and the site is muddy after a wet winter. (44009 bytes) Week1 - 8th April - Palm Sunday - Site clearance starts and Father Jonathan leads the congregation in a Palm Procession around the Church grounds. (31664 bytes) Week 3 - 25th April - Ground levelling continues behind the Church (45835 bytes)

Bored piles for the foundations were installed during May 2001.

Week 5 - 10th May - Setting up the piling plant. (38472 bytes) Week 7 - 20th May - Piling the foundations. (43700 bytes) Week 9 - 3rd June - Working around the pile caps getting ready for concrete and steel. (37056 bytes)

June 2001 sees the
ground beams prepared and the concrete poured.

Week10 - 12th June - Steel and polystyrene being positioned in the ground beam trenches. (29719 bytes) Week12 - 26th June - Concrete is poured into the ground beam foundations. (34973 bytes) Week 13 - 3rd July - Drains and foundation wall blockwork started. (45819 bytes)

In July the steel frame for the main hall goes up, then the floor beams are positioned.

Week14 - 13th July - Structural steelwork for the main hall is up. (29284 bytes) Week16 - 23rd July - Steel frame nears completion. (48262 bytes) Week16 - 24th July - Pre-cast concrete floor beams are lowered into place. (36900 bytes)

With the floor laid, the walls rise from the foundations in August and September.

Week19 - 14th August - Walls are starting to rise from the foundations. (40638 bytes) Week20 - 26th Aug - Facing brickwork now started and window frames taking shape. (40961 bytes) Week25 - 27th Sep - A tarpaulin covers the start of the linking of the old and new buildings as brickwork gets higher. (47787 bytes)

Brickwork reaches roof level in October and the roof goes up in November.

Week27 - 13th Oct - Brickwork reaches roof level. (53259 bytes) Week29 - 26th Oct - Roof to new sacristy takes shape. (30309 bytes) Week31 - 10th Nov - The main roof is now in place. (47444 bytes)

Drains connected in December, internal works during Jan, finishing Feb.

Week36 - 12th Dec - Digging across the road to connect to the main sewer.(49807 bytes) Week38 - Christmas - Internal work has started in the main hall. (26646 bytes) Week43 - 2nd Feb - Paths being laid and interior fittings being installed as work nears completion. (42030 bytes)

March 2002 and the new Centre starts to be used, official opening in April.

Palm Sunday - 24th March - Father Jonathan leads the congreation in a Palm procession past the new Parish Centre and around the Church grounds. (83993 bytes) Dedication Mass - 19th April - The Rt. Rev. John Hind Bishop of Chishester celebrates Mass. (44835 bytes) Official Opening - 19th April - John, Lord Bishop of Chichester, unveils the plaque and Blesses the new Centre. (45209 bytes)
